Samsung already has a date for its Galaxy S9
The CEO of the company confirms the presentation of his device at the Mobile World Congress
No, it will not be at CES in Las Vegas (United States). The rumors were aimed at the first major technology fair of the year to unveil Samsung's plans with its high-end phones by 2018. Finally, the Galaxy S9 will see the light in Barcelona at the Mobile World Congress (MWC), which starts on the 26th February.
This has been confirmed by the CEO of Samsung Electronics, Dj Ko, who confirmed to ZDNET that the S9 will be announced during the MWC 2018. Last year, Samsung launched its S8 in March, so the South Korean has decided to advance a month the launch of its first big smartphone of the year.
This would encourage the rumors that signal this year there will be three releases. The first would be the expected S9, in summer the new Galaxy Note would arrive and the big bet would arrive for the last quarter of the year with a folding phone, which is expected to hit the market this year.
At the moment, few data have been revealed of this new smartphone that some are quick to call Galaxy X. The first rumors point to a super screen of 7.3 inches and it would be foldable.
Several South Korean media have encouraged this news stating that Samsung is presenting to its partners several prototypes of this phone in the back room of CES in Las Vegas, however Samsung did not confirm this information. To date, the only certainty is that the Galaxy S9 will arrive in February, one month ahead of schedule.
