Security experts warn of a campaign to steal credentials from the streaming platform

Hundreds of Netflix users have received an email in recent days with the subject Notice-Document followed by a series of numbers. An email that impersonates the North American company and that it is a phishing campaign, according to Panda Security.

This attack aims to steal the passwords of the users of the streaming platform. They ask users to verify their access data to the company through a link and then validate the payment information.

Once the false email link is clicked, the user is redirected to a fictional Netflix page, which requires the introduction of the platform's email and password, according to Panda Security's experts.

The technical director of PandaLabs, Luis Corrons, has warned that the "real risk" is that the attackers resell the stolen accounts "on the black market" and use them to carry out attacks "on a larger scale", since most of users reuses their passwords, so it would be possible to reach 'email' accounts, social networks or even banking.

The email alerts its clients that if they do not complete the supposed validation process of their accounts, the subscription to Netflix will be suspended. Panda recalled that with these types of phrases, cybercriminals seek that victims "react quickly, without reflecting."

Panda Security reminds you to be suspicious of those emails that link to unofficial websites and that, if the communications are addressed to Spanish users, they are not in the user's native language.
