Millennials ask for credits to buy a mobile
Young Spaniards believe that the best smartphones are the most expensive
In 2016, the average price of a smartphone was just over 215 euros (about 255 US dollars), a figure that increased to 253 euros in the same quarter but in 2017.
An increase that has its explanation in the rupture of the ceiling of 1,000 euros in smartphones of Apple and Samsung. Although, the mid-range has also increased its price by around 800 euros in some cases.
Prices that have caused young people to resort to alternative ways and 12.5% of millennials have asked for a loan to buy a new mobile that, they recognize, they did not really need. Among adults aged 45 to 54 years this figure drops to 5.9% of respondents.
When in doubt to choose a mobile for the price of the device or for the brand, young Spaniards between 18 and 34 years are the most important to the manufacturer, in 34% of them, and four out of ten of them ensure be willing to pay more for a certain brand, according to the buyer Rastreator.
On the other hand, adults between 55 and 65 years old are the ones that most value the price, with 77.5% of them considering this aspect as the most important when it comes to purchasing a telephone. Adults value the importance of the brand to a lesser extent, with 29% of Spaniards aged 45 to 55 who consider it important.
In addition, 25.6% of millennials are convinced that the most expensive mobiles are necessarily better than the lower priced mobiles.
The duration of the battery, the available memory in the device or the mobile processor are other characteristics that most young people consider, according to 58.4%, 53.9% and 46.3% of them respectively.
